Viral-popular Elizabethton, Tennessee-based singer-songwriter Jett Holden is a soft-spoken creative whose smoky tenor has expanded his fanbase by offering a classic country flair to covers of songs including the Spice Girls’ 1996 hit “Say You’ll Be There” and the New Radicals’ 1998 one-hit-wonder “You Get What You Give.” “Taxidermy” takes his online stardom to the real-time realm via lyricism like the stirring social commentary dropped in the song’s hook, noting performative activism as “taxidermy for your Facebook wall.” As a gay, Black man, Holden has stated previously that he “was apprehensive about stepping into the country music arena but is taking the chance and looking forward to building a successful career in the industry.”
